HEAD COACH - CAP POHLMAN
Coach Pohlman enters his 14th year as head coach of the Jayhawks with a record of 411-252. Last year the Jayhawks finished 42-19 and were the regional runner-up. The 2007-2008 Muskegon Community College squad won the school's first conference championship, The 2009-2010 squad set a school record with 44 wins and broke 20 other school records. Born and raised in Saginaw, MI, Coach Pohlman threw seven no hitters at Saginaw Douglas MacArthur High School. He then moved on to Central Michigan University, where he defeated South Carolina on a no-hitter and in the regionals and Big Ten champ Iowa on a three-hitter. He was drafted in the 9th round by the Milwaukee Brewers spending two years in the minors before ending his career with an arm injury. Coach Pohlman spent one season as a volunteer coach at Central Michigan before becoming the head coach at Chesaning High School, where his teams won seven conference titles. His best team was 32-7 and set many state records. He left to become the assistant baseball coach at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. His primary responsibility was working with the pitchers. Starting with an eight-man pitching staff, Coach Pohlman expanded the staff to 24 pitchers after four seasons. Four of his pitchers were drafted, including Scott Sauerbeck and Dave Swartzbaugh.
Coach Pohlman spent 12 years at Fruitport High School before retiring. He spent four years as the varsity baseball coach. His teams won three conference championships. His high school record over 18 years was 351-145. In 2002 Coach Pohlman was elected to the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. In 2009 he was selected to the CMU Hall of Fame as part of the Chippewa 1971 national runner-up squad. His resume also includes coaching football and basketball and serving as an athletic director. He has spoken at many clinics and camps. He is supported by his wife of 37 years, Deb, a retired teacher, his daughter, Karli, a teacher in Muskegon and son-in-law Jason Baldus who works at the Newaygo Intermediate School District, and his son Carey, a teacher in Gastonia, North Carolina. He is also the proud grandpa to Karina and Jackson.
ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH - GREG GUZMAN
Coach Guzman is in his 7th season as an assistant coach with the Muskegon Community College Baseball Team. He was born and raised in Muskegon and he graduated from Oakridge High School in 1990. Coach Guzman then attended Jordan College for 2 years before returning to Muskegon Community College for 2 years majoring in Business.
Coach Guzman's previous coaching experience includes 1 year as a volunteer assistant with the Oakridge High School Baseball Team. He also was a volunteer assistant for 2 years with the MCC Women's Basketball team and also coached high school girl's basketball for 5 years. Coach is employed by Eby-Brown as a business growth and development coordinator for the Western Michigan area.
ASSISTANT COACH - KEITH WILLIAMS
Coach Williams is entering his 3rd year as an assistant coach at Muskegon Community College. After graduating from Montrose High School, he attended Adrian College where he played baseball.
